We live our mission in everything we do, constantly asking ourselves if we are making a difference and supporting long-lasting impact through the initiatives we support.
A Difficult Path
The story of The Sontag Foundation is really the story of Rick and Susan Sontag and their ability to turn adversity into a benefit for many other people who have lived with the scourge of brain cancer.
In 2006, Susan Sontag was invited to speak before a crowd of over 500 clinicians and researchers at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology regarding her changed life after her brain cancer diagnosis.
In 2014, Rick and Susan formed The Brain Tumor Network to help patients affected by brain tumors. The Brain Tumor Network started with one nurse navigator and now comprises a large team of nurse navigators, social workers, medical records, and administrative support staff.
Brain Tumor Network provides free, individualized brain tumor support to help patients overcome treatment obstacles, facilitate access to quality healthcare, and navigate the clinical trials process.
