Mark Johnson, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Johnson is a widely-known expert in the management of brain tumors and is the director of programs for adult hydrocephalus and neurosurgical pain management.

Dr. Johnson is a 2004 Sontag Foundation Distinguished Scientist Award recipient and one of two alumni serving on The Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Johnson is also a senior consulting vice provost for mentorship, leadership and transformation of UMass Medical School and directs the UMass Medical School residency program in neurological surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Johnson leads a translational research lab focused on adult hydrocephalus and on the genomics, cell biology and treatment of brain tumors. Prior to his role at UMass, Dr. Johnson was an Associate Neurosurgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School.
