EMERGENCY CASH SUPPORT FOR BRAIN TUMOR PATIENTS

4/30/2020: The Sontag Foundation announces the establishment of The Sontag Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Patient Assistance Fund to provide financial support to patients affected with a brain tumor diagnosis or their caregivers who have been impacted by COVID-19. This fund will help eligible patients with the costs of their basic daily needs, including food, rent or mortgage, utility bills, car payments and other transportation expenses, childcare, and temporary lodging for medical appointments. Grants from this fund to patients will be administered by the Patient Advocate Foundation.

“Before COVID-19 most families impacted by a brain tumor already were under financial stress from medical bills and other costs associated with the disease. With the disruption to employment and other changes brought on by this pandemic the financial burden for them has become overwhelming,” said Rick Sontag, Founder and President of The Sontag Foundation. “We are grateful to have the ability to establish an emergency fund like this. I hope that others with the ability to help will do so as well.”

$100,000 of funding opens for applications on April 30, 2020. Patients who meet certain eligibility criteria will receive a grant of $500. Grants will be provided on a first come, first served basis until funds are expended.

Patients can apply or learn more about The Sontag Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Patient Assistance Fund by calling 1-855-824-7941, Option 5. Someone from the Patient Advocate Foundation will be ready assist them.

The Brain Tumor Network’s services are provided free of cost by a multidisciplinary team of dedicated healthcare professionals. These services include providing personalized clinical trial searches, facilitating second opinions, providing treatment and diagnosis related information, as well as psychosocial education and support.
