A family tradition of giving back.
The Sontag family began their foundation as a way to fund biomedical research. Our primary focus is on brain cancer, with additional support for rheumatoid arthritis. Providing grant support to programs helping individuals in Northeast Florida become more self-sufficient has also become a priority.
Recipients of The Sontag Foundation Distinguished Scientist Awards are announced every year, providing each recipient $600,000 in funding over a four-year period, thus supporting the early career efforts of North America's most talented medical minds. $70,000 research fellowships awarded annually through our partnership with Arthritis National Research Foundation also target promising research by outstanding young investigators.
We believe that by investing in the potential of beginning scientists, we are challenging the standards of research to meet a higher goal.
